update on kent – january 6th

It is evening after another beautiful Oklahoma day. Kent is again doing better, although progress is measured in very small increments. He looks and feels generally better, and now has enough breath to sustain a conversation. He is still very weak, but he has been through quite a week! The doctors have started the process of weaning him onto steriods by pill instead of IV, in preparation for sending him home to finish the healing process. They reduced the dosage a little, and they will watch how he tolerates it tonight and tomorrow. If he does well, they will send him home and monitor his progress from there. Please pray for wisdom. Insurance companies put on a lot of pressure for doctors to dismiss patients as soon as possible. Kent’s doctors seem to be very patient oriented, and I do not think they would knowingly send him home too early. We just need to pray for God’s wisdom in all of this. Kent is getting more rest, which is an answer to prayers – thank you.
God’s provisions have been evident throughout our stay in the hospital, and we are thankful. Every one of the hospital staff that have walked through our door have been gracious, helpful, and encouraging. It is humbling to think back to stress of 3 days ago, and see how much God has done for us. This hospital experience has been flooded with sweet staff, and wonderful friends. We thank all of you.
I’ll talk to you again tomorrow with the latest news. As usual, I feel so valued by you, and so grateful for the work you do in prayer. “Thank you” is too simple, but be assured that I do thank God for you. I ask Him daily to give you all of the promised rewards for those who pray, and they are many.
Love In Him, Davidene
