nov 23 – update

I haven’t blogged in a week, so it is time for one. All of you have been so gracious in response to Kent’s year end report. Thank you for your faithful encouragement and prayers. You are precious to us.

Kent’s disease is still active. As I said last week, it seems to have traveled back to his head, his left ear, especially. It has been red, swollen, and painful, so the steroids were bumped back up to twice and then three times the low dosage that he had finally been down to. Some days it seems to make a little difference, and we get hopeful and he is allowed to reduce the steroids a little. Then, on other days, it seems that the disease is aggressive again. So it is kind of a cat and mouse game right now, raising and lowering the steroids to keep the ear under control.

Other than that, Kent is doing fine and is living well on a day to day basis. As he says, “I can walk, talk, see people, and work on my computer. So life is good. I just can’t carry things or breathe very well.” As far as he is concerned, life is doable, and good. I agree with him. This month is SOOO much better than any time last summer. Also, I had my last iron transfusion yesterday. That should hold me for about a year. I’m glad to have that process over for now.

Thanksgiving is in two days, and we can hardly wait. A wonderful dinner with his family, then off to our lake house for a few days with our kids and grandkids. One week can’t get any better than that!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving, Davidene
