oct 29th – update

It has been a good week around here! We got back the results of Kent’s blood tests, and the inflammation indicators were no higher than 2 weeks ago. They are still high, but stopped climbing for now, so he is being kept at his same medications level for now. When the drs. start changing the meds, it gets difficult, but right now we have a sort of regularity to our days, which is nice. He will be tested again in 2 weeks.

We went to see a movie and went out to dinner last night – our 2nd “movie date” since last May. We had a ball. Also, Kent was asked by our pastor to give the Sunday morning sermon last Sunday, and to give it on the subject of facing death. The title was “Are You Ready?” and it was powerful. I asked the church today for permission to put the audio on our website, and they gave it to us. On Monday, when our “website” lady comes to work, she will put it on for download. Check on Monday or Tues. The powerpoint for the message is on the website also, but since he hardly used it, you really need the audio to get the full message. You can also order the CD from our church, Cherokee Hills Baptist Church, 5700 N.W. 63rd, Okla. City, OK 73132. They cost $2 each. Just ask for Kent Humphreys’ sermon of 10-24-10, entitled “Are You Ready?” They will mail it to you.

We are still enjoying a glorious fall season, and I am already looking forward to Thanksgiving. I know, it is a little premature for that, but I don’t think I’ve ever been more thankful, for all sorts of things, than I am this year. I want to celebrate it every day, and I do, actually. But it is so fun to decorate with fall colors – a visual reminder of the season and the reason. The Pilgrims counted survival as something to thank God for, and we do, too. They were thankful for the most basic of things, like seasons, and corn, and new friends. Like them, we have re-located, met new friends under dire circumstances, faced crises together and were supported by friends and family, and survived.

Thanking God,

Davidene
