September 23 (Johns Hopkins) Update

Just got off the phone with Davidene. Kent is doing well and in recovery. Apparently they didn’t get a room yesterday after the procedure until after 9pm so that made for a long day, and rather short night. However, he was able to be in the room overnight and is there now, resting.

After evaluating Kent this morning, the decision has been made to leave the stents out. This will hopefully enable Kent’s body to go a while without fighting through all of the complications that accompanied having the stents in place.  He is currently breathing on his own and although they have not done any breathing tests on him yet, Davidene said his spirits are good and he is thankful to have the stents out.

During the procedure he was placed under general anesthesia so his recovery time is a bit longer than they expected. Due to that, they’ll be staying over an extra day there in Baltimore. Also, they are excited to see Dr. Hellmann tomorrow – they were able to be worked into his schedule, thankfully – and Davidene will call with another report after their appointment with him.

Thanks for all of your prayers – specifically for the procedure and Kent’s recovery, as well as the appointment with Dr. Hellmann! Davidene said that specific prayer requests at this time would be Kent’s continued recovery, wisdom from Dr. Hellmann as they look to that next appointment, and getting a workable flight schedule back home (as they had to adjust it because of the extra day they are staying).

I will be posting as soon as I here something from her after their appointment tomorrow. Thanks, everyone!
