September 21 (Johns Hopkins Visit) Update

Just spoke with Davidene over the phone. She and Kent would like to thank everyone for the prayer cover they’ve received on this trip. She says that this has been very evident because this trip couldn’t have been any smoother or easier for them!  The plane connections were perfect, the room at the hotel is even right next to the elevator (so that Kent doesn’t have to walk far). They are having a very good and comfortable visit there at Johns Hopkins, largely due to your prayer and support!

As many of you know, Kent saw Dr. Feller-Kopman (the pulmanologist) today and they have made a decision to have the stents removed. The doctors and Kent and Davidene all feel that it is the right thing to do at this time. The procedure will be tomorrow and they will keep Kent there for observation all day and overnight (on Wednesday). If he is worse without them, they will put them back in on Thursday; if he does well without them, they will leave the stents out. Davidene said that she would blog about the details on how they came to this decision when she got the opportunity.

Specific prayer requests that she mentioned included a reaction from Kent after surgery that would be obvious as to how to proceed (putting the stents back in, or leaving them out). They would rather him have an obvious reaction to their removal tomorrow vs. two weeks from now, for example. Also, that they would be able to see Dr. Hellmann (the rheumatologist) at some point during their time in Baltimore, as their original appointment had to be canceled due to the procedure scheduled for tomorrow.

Again, thank you to everyone for your continued prayers and support. It means the world to Kent and Davidene and to all of us that love them. We will keep you updated as much as possible. Thank you!

Kristen

    Kent and Davidene.

God is so good that He has equipped these doctors to be used to help Kent improve in his health, but it is our Heavenly Father who is the Great Physician. Father we ask that you provide improvement and healing to Kent in his health issues to continue to do the work that you have called him to in such a manner that you Father be given the glory.

Know that we will continue to be in prayer for you here in Portland. Looking forward to seeing you in Tucson next week. Be Blessed!

    Jim

Dear Lord Jesus… THANK YOU for healing Kent.

Phillipians 4:5-9 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice and the God of peace will be with you.
