july 30 – update

Dear Friends:

It is hard to realize how quickly things can change, but they have. Kent was re-admitted to the hospital last night. He has had a hard time coughing for the past few days, and his breathing was sounding horrible. He woke up yesterday with a general feeling of being unwell. We gave him every medication we could for lungs and body, and put him back to bed. He woke up with a fever, which is a very bad sign when you are trying to avoid infection. The dr. sent him to the ER, basically due to the fever. Since we were in Eufaula, it took some time, but by 10:30 p.m., he was in a room. When they figure out what is causing the fever, they will give him appropriate meds. In the meantime, the dr says they will give him a “tune up” on his lungs. He needs it. It has been 20 days since his last hospitalization. Before that, it had been 21 days. It appears that 3 weeks is becoming the norm for staying out of the hospital. Kent is so well known in the ER now, that an ER doctor that wasn’t even assigned to him last night, dropped by to say “Hi”. Weird feeling.

Both the drs here and in Baltimore want us to get back to Johns Hopkins to see if those drs can figure out a way to change this lifestyle for Kent. We will go as soon as we can, although one of the Johns Hopkins docs is away until the end of August. So it will be early September before that can happen.

The sale of our old house is supposed to close today, but there have been numerous small kinks, so please help us pray about that, too. (It is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.) I will do it by myself – another new experience.

THANKS AGAIN – AS USUAL – FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND LOVE. Davidene
