july 19 – update

Kent may blog today, also, but I had to let you know how God answered prayers! Kent was released from the hospital last Monday, (a week ago), and I phoned our nephew, Rod, to let him know that we could go. The dr. was a little amazed, and said, “You are still going to go to Colorado?” Kent just looked up at him with an expression that said, “Of course! What did you expect?” The dr. then ordered en extra bag of antibiotics, and one more respiratory treatment, and sent him home. We arrived home about 1:00 p.m., and were at Rod’s house by 1:30, ready to go.

When we entered his house, it seemed too quiet, and I asked where everyone was. It was then that Rod “came clean” with the information that his wife was in Florida, and he had had to get various people to take care of his 3 children and the dog in order to drive us. I was overwhelmed with the generosity of so many people to help us get to Colorado. Both Rod’s and Stevanna’s families were involved in the effort, and we are so grateful to all of you.We could not have made it without Rod. He thought of everything, and the trip could not have gone more smoothly. What a loving servant heart he has. THANKS, Stevanna, for sharing him and for letting your family be so displaced while you were gone. THANKS, also, to all of you who kept kids and dogs.

By noon on Tuesday, we were at Lost Valley. Rod stayed over until the next day, and I think we have a new convert to our special place in the world. The rest of the week was one joyous blessing after another. Every day held special moments and memories, much laughter and fun, and some rest, too. I slept the entire first day there! We had a ball. The weather was the best, the fish were biting better than ever (so Jake tells me), and the ranch staff accomodated us in such a way that potential problems did not happen. They even moved a big recliner into our cabin for Kent to sleep in! Such hospitality.

Well, we are home now, and Kent made the trip back nicely. We are back to the usual activities of dealing with insurance companies about medicine and other “stuff”, but with light hearts and refreshed spirits. Kent walked around our lake this morning, I got my dogs back home, and all is well with the world. It is amazing how little it takes to bring happiness these days. God reminded us of his delight in the little things by blessings us with hummingbirds, blazing sunsets, His voice in both thunder and quiet breezes through pine trees, singing streams and waterfalls over large rocks, and horses rolling with pleasure in dusty paddocks. In the nursery meadow, the stallion (Casanova) stood in silent protection of his mares and foals, until Lance called him and he came trotting over for a head scratch like a young colt. We saw and experienced so many awesome expressions of God’s nature and love.

THANK YOU for praying us there. Love, Davidene

    Davidene-
Just loved hearing about the time at the ranch. Rod texted me Wednesday morning with the news about Kent waking you up so you could hear how well he was breathing. Hilarious! We had 2 of the kids and the dog, for which Boston was grateful. (Carly and Corey took Molly at night.) They were no trouble and we were so excited that you got to join the fam in Colorado! See you soon.
    Love,
    Joy
