july 7th – update

Friends:  It’s my turn to blog! Kent’s articles are inspiring and challenging, and I can’t wait to read them myself! I’m SOOO glad that he is up and writing again. It makes him and me both happy.

I am more of the fact-giving writer today. We just arrived home a little while ago from our July 4th weekend at the lake. We had so much fun! Kent had a couple of premier days and took advantage of them by playing cards with family, enjoying a steak “birthday” dinner, and sitting on the beach watching grandkids. After all the family left, a few “Empty Nester” friends came by for hamburgers and great conversation. New memories were made to be cherished.

It was a dry run of sorts for our trip to Lost Valley next week, and in that category it was a learning success. I think that we know better what we are doing in a car, and coping in a situation that has potential large groups. We learned to be careful about how and where to be around a group, and also discussed how to avoid dirt, dust, and smoke as much as possible. We now have a plan of action in dealing with those elements at Lost Valley. We had a medical equipment expert from Tulsa come to the lake house to give us a lesson with the VPAP machine, and to give us a travel nebulizer. It is really compact and easy, and will be so much more convenient as we travel.

We stayed for two extra days because of house repairs (we had a water pipe in an interior wall break and flood two bedrooms!) and to let Kent rest before heading home. He has had much more difficulty breathing for both of those days. Obviously, the fun was a bit much for him. So we are throwing all of the helpful meds we can at his lungs, and he will stay very quiet until we leave. But we still think that Lost Valley is a “GO”, and are looking forward to traveling with our kids and grandkids, caravan style, to Colorado Springs, and then up to the ranch. We leave OKC on Sat. morning, and will arrive at the ranch on Sunday afternoon. We return home again the next Sunday – Monday. I’ll blog as soon as we return. We are counting on your prayers for this too-good-to-be-true vacation. As you think of us, please pray that

  • our vehicles stay mechanically safe and sound
  • everyone’s health stays safe and sound
  • we can avoid detrimental elements getting into Kent’s lungs
  • the medical equipment works well
  • the altitude does not hinder
  • God would grant grace, memories, and fun to our family

God has been so good to us. THANK YOU for your part in all of it. Some of you are in medical distress now, too, and we are praying for you. This blogging stuff is really good for getting information, isn’t it? We are thankful for the information you give us about your journeys , and we can join you at God’s throne as we bring each other to Him.

Have a wonderful family week,

Love the blogs! Read them more than once. Kent and Davidene I pray several times every day for you. I am really praying about the trip. “May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you, may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. ” and may God’s angels watch over you and protest you. (no reply necessary). God Bless
