june 28th – update

Did you have a good weekend? We did, too. Kent’s bronchoscopy on Friday left him more drained than we at first realized, but after resting on Friday and most of Saturday, he picked up rapidly. We went to Sunday School on Sunday morning, came home and rested, and then met some friends for lunch. The rest of Sunday was rainy and involved much watching of Nascar. For those of your who did not realize that he is a Nascar fan, Kent’s favorite racer has been Mark Martin for years and years. I thought he might have a depression when Martin tried to retire some years back, but, luckily, Martin returned. Anyway, we finished yesterday by watching a movie together, and I thought it was a wonderful day.

Today (Mon) has started out to be another improvement day. Kent walked all the way around our little lake (1/3 mile) by himself before I even woke up! He is in great spirits, and we are spending the day getting meds and equipment ready for a few days at the lake for the 4th, and then our trip to Colorado the next week. It is so exciting that we can plan such things! Once Kent started getting stronger, he has “taken off like a rocket”. I am so proud of him. No one has ever been more determined or tenacious as he has been.

And no one has had any better support than we have had from you! Please keep it up. We are so grateful. If I could hug each of you, I would. But since I can’t, I pray often that God would bless you for us.

THANK YOU,

Davidene

    Continuing to pray for you all. I am moving to the praising part in my journey. Radiation begins this afternoon at 2:40. I am praising God for the technology to help me continue to heal. I know you are doing the same! Isn’t it amazing the Creator’s plan for our bodies? And he has gifted doctors to help us take care of them. Amazing Love!
    Pray that Kent continues to improve and heal. Glad he is moving back to normal, high speed!!!
    Love in Christ

    Cheryl and I are so happy that Kent’s condition is improving to the point that a Colorado trip is in the works. It is not surprising to anyone that Kent’s determination is at a high point. I have never known a time when that was every in doubt when he took on a task….especially when it was working for the Lord. God has blessed you in many ways and I know that He will continue to keep one of his best disciples working for him.

    Dear Davidene;

    Thanks for such encouraging news. You have made our day. We can just see Kent out there walking with purpose and a zip in his step. What an amazing God we serve and One whose love for us is immeasureable. Does He ever disappoint us? Can’t think of a single time, not that everything has always gone the way we thought it should but always for our good and to His glory.

    We love both of you and will be praying for you to have a great time away and that God’s hand of protection and care will surround you as you travel.

    Blessings and hugs;
    Barb (and JD)

    Eric and I add our praises to our Father to the rest of the praise replies above. God is purposeful, intentional and explicit. He has great plans in store for you, Kent and Davidene. Eric and I are blessed to have been audience and participants to how God has used you both in the past and we surely look forward to being a part of what His plans are for the future.
    Have a grand time on BOTH trips coming up here…Ps. 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord…Praise the Lord!!!

    Praise the Lord that He answers us when we call and for this miracle that we have been blessed to witness and be a part. God has glorified His name and encourage our faith!

    Happy Birthday, Kent.

    Lots has happened since we saw you at the airport the last of May. Wow! So glad you are doing better and re-couping. Praying you’ll continue on the upswing and have a great 4th and time in Colorado (with no incidents to report).

    Love you and Davidene,

    Max and Sandra

  9. Davidene,
    IT has been great keeping up with your journey through your posts. Thanks for doing that. Does Dave McCasland still go to Lost Valley Ranch? If so, tell him Hello for me!! We love BV and that whole area. I am praying that it will be a great week for you. We all went to Young Life’s Trail West last year for a wonderful week. Such great memories for the grandchildren!!
    By His Grace,
    Carolyn
