June 2nd – update

To this roller-coaster experience, God added an “up” day today. Kent tolerated another bronchoscopy, although the doctor does not know exactly why Kent’s lungs are producing such a massive amount of fluid. The sedation was reduced as a trial to see whether Kent could tolerate the ventilator and be awake, and he not only did well, he immediately began to write messages and instructions to us! It was a joy to see him awake and communicating. Given his love of talking, we may go through a lot of paper in the next few days! He also was allowed to breathe on his own for a few hours, and he did well. A big issue now is the fact that the ventilator tube is helping to facilitate the suctioning of his airways, which is necessary because he is producing more than even the ventilator suctions and the bronchoscopy suctions can control. So, although he did well in the first efforts to begin to wean him off of the ventilator, lung secretion problems must be solved before he can successfully come off of it.

Our family and I thoroughly enjoyed our day with him today. It was a gift to be treasured, and we do. We count on your continued prayers and are very grateful for them.

In Him,

A verse that means a lot to me,I’ll share with you………
Zephaniah 3:17 which says, “The Lord your God is with you…He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
JD and I are praying this for you all but especially for you and Kent.
Sending love and a big hug to you both

You and Kent continue to be encouragers. God has you in His hands during this journey. Kent and I must be cut from the same cloth. When I woke up in recovery, the nurse was discussing her cruise. Then seemed a bit unfair considering my summer plans had just changed. I asked her to please quit talking about it. Dead silence in the room, I guess she did not realize how awake I was!

Praying for complete healing. May God continue to be your strength during this time. I know He is mine.

  7. John & Cathy says:

What wonderful news. So happy for all of you. We’ll be praying that the fluid level return to normal very soon.
I have to say it, after the delightful pictures you furnished. So nice to know you inside out:) Continue to improve.

    Blessings to you both. Cathy
