June 1st – update

Today is a “rest” day for Kent’s lungs. He is sedated, still on the ventilator in ICU. They want NO stimulation for him, so we are not allowed to even touch or talk to him. It’s really hard, but if he wakens enough to be aware of our presence, he fights the ventilator and becomes agitated, which is terrible for the delicate balance between blood pressure (which wants to drop) and sedation. It is a tightrope of sorts. I am praying that Kent KNOWS we are there; that God would wrap his arms around him since we can’t. I would hate to think that deep down inside, he would ever feel alone. So we sit quietly in the corner and wait. An echocardiogram has been done to rule out any cardiac involvement in the current problems, although the dr. does not expect to find any. They are also culturing fluid to identifiy a possible infection in his lungs. We should know more within one to two days, and we will let you know. THANK YOU for your prayers and e-mails. You have been supportive, encouraging, and  faithful to share special Scriptures. In Him, Davidene

    Gary and I will be praying for you and Kent. Your family has had a deep impact on our family. I just found out today about the journey you are traveling. Know that I will be praying. I am two weeks out from surgery to remove cancer. I believe a large part of the healing process is to be spent praying for others. God continues to bring more for me to pray about. May God be your strength and courage during this part of your journey.
    In Him, Susan Fowler

  4. Barb And JD says:

    Dear Davidene;

    Thank you for posting your report of Kent’s illness. We are having a hard time even imagining him in this helpless and dependant state. That is so not him. He always had to be productive and moving forward.

    Thank you for your phone call today,Davidene, and to hear your sweet voice. You seemed so close and gave us a sense of peace just hearing from you but we certainly did not expect you to call. It meant a lot, especially to JD. He wishes he had called Kent when he had the opportunity but didn’t want to bother him. If he had shared that with me I would have told him to call but retrospection is always 20/20.

    We think of you both constantly and praying according to your lead in this blog. We are trusting God to be God and work out His sovereign will which we know both yourself and Kent want as that has been your testimony for as long as we have known you. We are pleading with God to put His healing hand on those precious lungs and give Kent breath and life. May His Grace be yours in whatever need you have and may His peace fill your spirit ,girlfriend. May He hold you tight and strengthen your body to carry on one moment at a time.

    Sending love and prayers,

    Davidene – words can’t express the concern and intercession that are being lifted for Kent, you and your family. Your strong faith shines as a testament, even during this hard time, as evident from your frequent posts.

    I know God is faithful and has an extra tight grip on Kent right now, holding and carrying him through this. At the same time I believe God is also letting Kent know you are there even though you can’t physically touch him.

    Know there are countless interceding on your behalf and believing our God is bigger than any disease. His strength is perfect when our strength is gone.

    In His Love

    Deanie and family: Our hearts have been heavy since hearing that Kent is going through this. Knowing that God is in control, we rest in Him, and wait for a positive word. May He hear all our hearts and bring Kent to fullness of health. And may each of you sense His strong presence and loving comfort and peace. We love you!

    Nell and I are interceding for you and Kent. Psalm 73:26 says: My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

    I enjoyed my time with Kent at KMI as we talked about raising kids. I appreciate his insight and sharing his experience. You have a tremendous husband. Keep your eyes on Him.

    You are always so encouraging to others, and now it’s an honor to try to encourage you. I have been thanking the Lord for the love and blessings you’ve given me over the years, Kent, too! Remember when you took us to the Praise Gathering? What an amazing trip that was for us, I still thank God for your investment in us! Thank you! I am praying throughout the days for Kent’s healing, and that he will be home soon feeling much stronger. Psalm 118:17 “I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.”
    This is my prayer for Kent.
    Much love, Debbie
