Kent’s Health Update

Friends: We will be using this blog to more easily update people on the progress of Kent’s health and treatments. Yesterday, April 27th, we heard from Johns Hopkins, indicating that his status with them is considered ‘urgent’, not critical. The difference is that he is not in danger of dying in the next few days (critical), but still needs priority handling (urgent). As soon as the primary doctor there has reviewed all of the information and scans that have been sent to him from OKC, and established the particular team that will work on Kent, and scheduled appointments and procedures, his assistant will call us and give us the dates to be there. This call will hopefully occur this week. In the meantime, Kent has more mucus building in his lungs, so pray that he would not contract pneumonia before we have a chance to have the procedure. So far, he is coughing it out and has no illness symptoms. He had his regular yearly physical last Monday, and we were informed yesterday that his Type II Diabetes is worse. Medication and diet will be revised today. He also met his new rheumatologist yesterday, who began the process of finding a medication to replace steroids. The process will take several months. A prayer is that insurance will agree to the use of the high-powered drugs indicated. Since Polychondritis is so rare, it is never listed on the “approved” lists. His heart is still fine – strong and unaffected by the disease. He does watch his pressure and pulse, however, for signs of distress that all of this can put on his body. THANK YOU for your prayers and concern. We have been graciously loved and cared for. In Him, Davidene

    Davidene, thank you so much for these updates. This will be so helpful to know how to specifically pray for Kent … and you. Please know you are in our prayers constantly. Cynthia and I prayed together for Kent this morning.

    Dear Davidene ;

    Thanks for informing us of Kent’s health concerns. We feel so bad for him. He has so much he wants to do and sitting still wouldn’t come easy to him.

    He has been in our prayers (actually both of you) and we’ll continue to pray that the Dr.s have wisdom to treat him as God leads and that his lungs clear. We also will pray about the insurance coverage for this Rx.

    This is becoming a long journey for you both. God is able. “His mercies are new every morning, great is His faithfulness.” I’m sure you have built many alters along the way in thankfulness to God for His provision.

    Love and Prayers

You both are a true testament of God’s love and grace through the lives you live and touch in your hometown and church, as well as the countless reached outside.

    I know God will supply all your needs during this time and surround you with the prayers of all those lives you have touched over the years.

    In His Love

    QUOTING FROM SPURGEON – When at the present moment our world turns upside down, we as Christians have certain things which cannot be shaken….(1) our present salvation – the merits of Jesus blood for u and nothing touches that (2)We are still a child of God.No change in circumstances can ever change that, and (3) The love of Jesus – He who is God loves us and has prepared a place for us Himself….Our best portion and richest heritage we cannot lose!!
